With the many events occurring in
the world lately, one could think gun laws/safety will be a popular topic at
MGA this year. Everyone has a very voiced opinion on this topic and it needs to
be worked on. Should someone feel safe going to get food after school with
friends? Should someone feel safe in their school? Should someone feel safe in
their school? Should someone feel safe in an amusement park full of people?
They should, but the gun issues we’re having a lot of people cannot. Things
could be changed.
In House Bill No. 12 discusses that
any person 21 years of age or older, or 18 years of age or older and have been
or currently in military duty. The patron of this bill is Faith Christian
School. I interviewed Rachel Hall to discuss more of her outlook on this bill. Having
a strong feeling on gun safety in schools, Rachel was asked about helping gun
safety in schools using this bill. She says that this bill would not affect
high school safety. This bill is more for college campuses and college aged
students since it is an individual safety precaution. Refer to bill #8 that
talks about allowing guns on college campuses.
Rachel is for this bill. She says
that if we are trusting these men and women to fight with bigger weapons, then
they should have the right to carry and purchase an armed weapon. She thinks
that this bill will go far in MGA, but it is “common sense”.
