Lieutnant Governor Election By: Jamie Saunders

There are several nominees running for Lieutenant Governor from different domains of Virginia. The honor of receiving this position extends beyond the surface benefits, but should bring honor and pride to the heart of the recipient. Anna Sexauer gave a speech discussing the great pride she takes in being the 2017-2018 Lieutenant Governor.
Marissa Smith is running for the position from Brunswick Academy. Smith (Brunswick Academy) said during an interview “I want to be Lieutenant Governor because I strive to have the opportunity to give everyone a far and equal chance to be heard. I want to share my opinion with others in an unbiased and fair way.” Morgan Stanley is also running for the position representing Kenston Forest School. Stanley (Kenston) said during her interview: “I want to be elected for Lieutenant Governor because I have always loved politics since I was a little girl. I began attending MGA in the 9th grade and I fell in love with politics even more. I plan to pursue a career as a lawyer. This experience as Lieutenant Governor would help build my knowledge on government functions and relations. I am very dedicated to my political work with non-profit organizations during summer internships so I feel being elected for this position would benefit that as well.”
Isabel Baynum (Wakefield School) created a speech which questioned the reasons of attendance to MGA. Baynum stated in her speech: “Hands down I am a “people’s person” I love to talk and interact. She realized quickly she needed to use her talking to make a difference in the world.” Morgan Butler began her speech by describing an experience which ironically parallels to the MGA experience. Butler said: “MGA is a combination of unexpected events which lead to the amazing experience called MGA and life”. Elections are tonight so be sure to listen to each candidate in order to make an educated decision!
