The Governor's Press Conference. By Isaac Dragovich

The Governor’s Press Conference
By Isaac Dragovich
The Governor’s Press Conference: the primary place where the lobbyists and reporters at MGA can have their questions answered by their officers, namely their youth governor. This year, Anna Sexauer braved the storm of questions posed by the reporters and lobbyists of MGA. She answered each question with a prepared and thought-out response.  The questions this year ranged anywhere from the way in which she runs her cabinet in relation to previous administrations, to her stance on the Commonwealth Senate Bill No. 4 involving solitary confinement, to advice she gave to future candidates,  and running for office at MGA.
Governor Sexauer began the press conference by giving some background on herself and the amount she had learned this year at the Model General Assembly. After the brief introduction she was asked the first question about how her cabinet was run in relation to previous cabinets, including the one she was a part of last year. Her answer was that she had learned many valuable things from previous administrations, both things that she wanted to implement into her cabinet and things she realized to steer away from. In her answer she stated how she runs a much “tighter ship” than people in previous year and she claims that this has been beneficial (Sexauer). Another interesting topic covered in the course of the press conference was the Commonwealth Senate Bill No. 4. It is a bill discussing the matter of solitary confinement. This topic was interesting because her school brought a solitary confinement bill, along with Faith Christian school; however, she was in support of the bill presented by Faith Christian over her own school. This decision shows Governor Sexauer’s ability to decern and remain unbiased, which is essential to being a successful governor. The final topic that Sexauer spoke on was the encouragement of future candidates to run. She reiterated the importance of being bold and being oneself. These two points were emphasized because they allow the candidate to give MGA their all and not hold anything back. In closing, the Youth Governor's press conference was filled with questions that allowed Anna Sexauer to discuss the reasoning behind her motives, and it opened up the the Governor’s intentions with the rest of the Senators, Delegates, and Lobbyists at MGA.
