"Organ Donor Alert" By: Haley Henshaw

Every person has a right to be an Organ Donor or not, but the question is “What happens if you’re in an accident and your life can’t be saved, but you could save someone else’s?” On average, every ten minutes, someone is added to the national transplant waiting list, and those people can wait days, months, and even years before they can get an organ transplant.

The Commonwealth House Bill NO. 21 was passed Friday unanimously, so while interviewing James Loving, a delegate from Broadway School, he was asked what his thoughts were on the bill. He said “ I think this is a very serious issue that involves a lot of people, there are not enough organs out there, not just in Virginia, all over the world, and those organs save lives. I also asked him if he thought this topic could make it to the national level and his response was “As far as I’m considered this is a state issue, and personally I don’t think it would make it to the national level of legislative.” Now before this article comes to a close, one more startling statistic is that a single organ donor can save eight lives.
