"MGA versus GA" By: Karyssa Lang

How would you compare and contrast MGA and GA? Most people would compare them with facts and statistics, which is a great way to follow through with the comparison and contrast. However, these important events can also be compared by the types of people attending and their attitudes.  The real General Assembly is filled with mature and extremely educated adults who dedicate their entire lives to their jobs. With MGA, the youth legislatures only spend months developing and researching for their jobs. MGA students are more than likely to base their vote on what they have heard from other students or their family members. The real members of the General Assembly will base their votes on the facts and will have less bias. Both the GA and MGA legislators have professional outlooks on the execution of bills.

While both MGA and GA are very different, they have many similarities. Both groups come together for the chance to better the commonwealth of Virginia by working on solutions for modern problems through political debate. In the end, both sets of legislatures bring people of all walks of life together and enable each voice to be heard. “I’ve spoken up for what I believe in,” candidate Jennie Hall days in her campaign speech.
